How I Cured the Seborrheic Dermatitis On My Scalp Naturally!
For a long time now (about 4 years) I have been dealing with Seborrheic Dermatitis. I was never actually diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis or any skin disorder for that matter.
I saw many dermatologists and they typically suggested that I had some form of Seborrheic Dermatitis, eczema, or very mild psoriasis of the scalp.
Unfortunately, no matter what medication I was given to treat my scalp I was unable to rid myself of the symptoms I was experiencing. There is a long list of prescription medications I was given to treat my seborrheic dermatitis but the ones I can remember are Clobetasol Propionate Cream, Prednisone Cream, and Cortisone Tablets. All of which had little, to no effect on me. Actually, the cortisone tablets seemed to help a bit, but the rapid heartbeat that I am still experiencing till this day as a side-effect was not worth it.
Seborrheic Dermatitis Symptoms I Experienced
Now, the Seborrheic Dermatitis symptoms experienced can vary from person to person but for me it all started out with a little itch on the back of my head near the crown. It kind of felt like a pimple but it began to scale up when I scratched at it. I thought nothing of it, it was simply another scab that I had picked. Soon, this “itching” feeling began to spread across parts of my scalp until it was pretty much everywhere.
Not to long after I began to notice the itching on my chest and arms a bit. The itching sensation drove me insane, it kind of felt like my hair was moving on its own, or something was crawling beneath my skin. Its a weird feeling to describe but if you are reading this, you might be feeling something similar. Some internet research lead me to other people describing this feeling as “Morgellons”, which could be just one giant conspiracy theory waiting to brew.
I noticed that the the scaliness on my scalp was pretty much everywhere about 6 months after it all began. By this time even my the hair on my legs began to give me this crawling sensation, especially at night when I was trying to go to sleep. It was literally driving me insane. No, I am not misusing the word “literally” either.
At work I began to slap my head when I felt that itching/crawling feeling and people assumed there was something wrong with me. Obviously, just scratching your head when you feel the symptoms of Seborrheic Dermatitis that I am describing does not suffice.
After a while when I scratched my head I noticed that my hair was coming along with it. I didn’t think to much of it because I had a ton of hair and I already knew that it was a fact that people shed roughly 50 to 100 hairs per day from their scalp. After about a year of this horrific experience I felt an intense heat coming off of my scalp. I mean, I put my cold, snowy filled hand on the back of my head, and not only was I able to melt the snow, but after about 10 mins I actually heated my palm back up just by resting it on that same spot on my crown.
So for all those of you who are not looking to read all semi-important information I just wrote, here is a list of the Seborrheic Dermatitis symptoms I experienced as a recap.
- Inflammation Of The Scalp
- Intense Itching Sensation (Also described as a crawling feeling on my scalp)
- Dryness / Scaliness on Skin and Scalp
- Hair loss
- Heat Coming from Scalp
Seborrheic Dermatitis Treatments That I Used
Roughly a year and a half after this all began I sought help from the practitioners of the medical field. Practitioners of the medical field is the fancy term I use for doctors, but not for nothing. They call themselves Dermatologists. After visiting three of them in a year and some time I figured out why doctors and lawyers alike open “Practices” and not businesses. Each of the dermatologists I went to gave me a different theory as to what I was experiencing and also a different method of treatment. First I was told it was a mild psoriasis and was given the Clobetasol Propionate Cream to rub on my scalp as well as other effected areas.
I did not see or feel any improvements, but even if it had worked it was completely unfeasible because of how little I was allowed to use safely in comparison to how vast the effected areas were. The next two were Prednisone Cream based on the theory that I had eczema and Cortisone Tablets because after my shared. Both part of the same drug family of corticosteroids, the were both relatively effective but again the cream option was just not going to work and the cortisone tablets are what I believe to be the cause of the unusual heart palpitations I still feel 4 years later today. This is why I began referring to doctors as practitioners.
They practice on human subjects with different medications they have already been “approved” for further testing on people because they are determined safe. Five years later you hear about class action lawsuits against the makers of the drugs that you took and your just like.. “Ummm wtf?”. I refuse to take any prescription medication unless its an absolute necessity, That is the same reason why I choose not to take Propecia for hair loss till this day.
After little to no success with the practitioners of the medical field,I began to do my research online. I consider myself an intelligent person and I am pretty self-aware both of my physical and mental being. If anyone was going to be able to diagnose myself it was me! There was one caveat though, I wanted to succeed in treating myself naturally. The obvious starting point was Googling natural treatments for eczema and psoriasis and that is how I came across the website JustNatural.com. Don’t bother going to the website, I didn’t hyperlink it for a reason. It looks like the fountain of youth at first glance but their products all smelled like donkey butt.
Although I will say I did find them kind of helpful in easing the irritation I was feeling, even if the smell of apple cider and donkey butt did linger in my hair for a few days. The natural path lead me to finding Dead Sea Salt as a recommendation shortly after. I bought bags and bags of the stuff because I thought this was it yet again. It was really relaxing to take a nice salt bath a couple days a week. At the time I didn’t realize it but I was taking a hot bath which was really bad for a person experiencing these types of conditions. Hot water expands your pores as heat does to all molecules and when this happens the sebum oil your skin naturally produces leaks out of your pores causing your skin to become even dryer than it was before.
I then expanded my search to treatments for Seborrheic Dermatitis of the scalp in general and that is when I came across this girls video.
Basically, she claims that by using diluted raw apple cider in tandem with a warm hemp oil treatment as well as Nizoral A-D Shampoo she has been irritation free for 6 months. Before jumping in knee-deep I did some research as to why this might have worked for her. It seems that most skin disorders such as eczema, psoriasis, and seborrheic dermatitis are caused by some time of bacterial or fungal overgrowth. At least that is the belief. Apparently many organisms can feed and thrive off the sebum oil our hair follicles produce making our scalps an ideal habitat.
The Apple Cider Vinegar is used for its mass amount of natural acidity to adjust the PH balance on your scalp as close to neutral as possible. Then the Hemp Oil is warmed (I assume because of the expanding pores being able to absorb it better) and left on the scalp over night.
It should be covered with a shower cap to get the best absorption possible and not ruin your pillow. This is to ensure moisture on the scalp as well as provide natural healing magic that hemp has been rumored to give. The Nizoral Shampoo contains 1% ketoconazole which is an anti-fungal agent used for people with sever dandruff caused by the aforementioned skin conditions. From there I ended up jumping in head first.
Even though the Apple Cider Vinegar smelled terrible while lingering in my hair and the hemp oil was a bitch to get out, it was worth the relief. I only used the Nizoral A-D once every three days because the excess sodium laureth sulfate can dry out your scalp and make the problem worse. FINALLY! I had concluded myself 2 and a half years later that I had a fungal outbreak on my epidermis and I was going to fight back at full power.
All of my research led me to such a simple answer. GARLIC! My fight against seborrheic dermatitis is was coming to close but I didnt know it yet. I began researching natural anti-fungal treatments and I found a ton of answers but the easiest one to try was just to eat a clove of garlic everyday because of the natural fungus fighting power it contained.
The next day I felt better, of course I did not want to assume that it was a miracle but my scalp was noticeably better as far as irritation outbreaks as well as just the feel of the skin in general. My skin finally felt real again, rather than just a patch of scaly crust that was foreign to my body. Once I made the decision to run with the idea that garlic was my savor I took these steps to help cure myself of seborrheic dermatitis
Seborrehic Dermatitis Cure Summary
- Buy a Juicer
- Juice a WHOLE Clove of Garlic (usually 7-9 cloves) and dilute it with half a cup of water
- Warm your diluted garlic juice. Do not heat it up too far!
- Pour this on your scalp or infected area and leave it there over night. Your skin replenishes itself from the vitamins in your body at night so this would be the best time for the garlic to be absorbed into your bloodstream from your skin.
- Wash the garlic out the next day with Nizoral A-D.
- Shampoo with Dr Bronner’s unscented hemp shampoo when necessary
- Rinse and repeat in 3 days until healed.
- Use Apple Cider Vinegar for added measure if you do not mind the stench
Please leave comments if you end up trying this. I want people to know that it works so we can help others!
Just curious if you can substitute garlic tablets for the garlic juiced. Do you think that will also get I’m the blood stream? Just asking. I want to try all the steps you did, because I have an excessive amount of hair loss. What do you think?
Disease cannot exist in a healthy body. Try boosting your glutathione (w/ sulfur foods: garlic, onion, etc) , take vitamins, minerals, Boost Omega 3’s, etc. Eating only eggs, non-processed meat (organic if can), vegetables, excluding potatoes and other high sugar veggies that feed fungus: carrots, sweet peas, sweet potatoes. Starve the fungus, boost your immune system so that the fungus can’t thrive. When immune system is low, fungus can take over. Also, pro-biotics / fermented foods to replenish gut bacteria. Heal your gut. Coconut Oil on scalp should take away itch for a couple days. Leave on over night. Try not to over wash scalp getting it out: When scalp is low oil, fungus freak out. Can use coconut oil on whole body. Shampoo: Jason’s Jojoba. Water: Non-chlorinated. I use distilled.
Minus fermented foods, apologies.
I cured myself by using Lagicam which is used by women to cure vaginal fungus of all types. I just put it on my face for like an entire week and the seborrheic dermatitis is gone.
can you use a hair product other than nizorol a-d too wash out garlic? Also i cant use hemp is there other effective shamoo?
can you use something besides nizorol a-d? to rinse garlic.
@Unclejesse what do you think about mixing raw coconut oil with camphor garlic and acv? Seb Dermatitis has taken over my face my brows, my mustache and sides of my nose are red and scaly along with serious flaking in the scalp. What should i do nothing seems to work?
try curad silver solution gel (order on line rom walmart) I use it morning & nite.cleared
cleared inflamation aroun mt chin , nasal folds , around my nose and cleared pustules
scale behind ears and pealing of lips, worked quite quickly, Still having problem with
scalp (using prescription shampoo but scale is so hard to scratch off so that shampoo
can penetrate. Will try the garlic. the curad is only .05 oz. I order 10 at a time each one lasts 3 days. ( approx. $40.00) total for 10.
face looks great (need to apply to lips more often ( not greasy) and very natural no
side effects. May not have to apply to entire face but I do in case it may spread,
curad is also great for red ant and spider bites and long list of other infectious stuff
I will forever have it in my home.
I have suffered for years…. may give it a go. Sounds good. Also heard that cider vinegar with
honey is good for you generally.
I’ve tried honey before. It’s does work but it’s an absolute pain to get into the scalp if you have thick hair. It does provide relief for about a week, but I wouldn’t consider it a cure.
People usually try to heal themselves from Seborrheic Dermatidis by trying prescribed shampoos, antifungal oils, and natural remedies etc. But what a lot of us don’t realize is that if we want the SD to be gone for good then we need to treat it internally. Pretty much everything that we apply topically will only keep the symptoms in check for a short time. Then the treatment will become ineffective and we will have to find an alternative because the fungus is tough and it can adjust to whatever it is that we are using to try and treat it with. That is why people start using something and think that it is working but then move on to something else so often. I came across a video on youtube that really encouraged me to start treating SD internally. In the video she explains that SD is caused by a fungus and whenever we eat foods that are high in sugar and carbs we are feeding the fungus. This is how the fungus can continue living. It feeds off of what we eat. She started taking Caprylic Acid and Probiotics to heal her gut and was able to heal her gut. (it did take a long time; three years, but at least doesn’t have to deal with SD anymore.) In our intestines we have good and bad gut flora. For a healthy gut we are supposed to have more good gut flora then bad but sometimes this gets thrown off balance. This can happen from taking antibiotics (antibiotics kill both the good and the bad gut flora because they can’t target only the bad) This causes the gut to be unbalanced. There are other ways that the gut can become unbalanced aging
alcohol
dairy products
illness/surgeries
stress
antibiotics and medication use
poor diet of processed foods, refined sugar and animal products/fats
It is possible that you have more bad gut flora in your intestines than good. When this happens your immune system is weakened and the body won’t be able to fight off infections as well as it used to. This causes an overgrowth of yeast. (people naturally have some yeast on their scalp known as malassezia furfur but if the immune system is compromised an overgrowth can occur. When this happens it causes skin cells on the scalp to divide too rapidly, which results in the buildup of flakes and scaly scalp. To heal SD ( whether on your face or scalp) you need to heal your gut. It can be caused by other things like hormonal imbalance ( I recommend having your thyroid levels checked) but the most common reason is an imbalance of gut flora.
Avoid eating inflammatory foods like dairy products, cheese especially, and highly spicy or sugary snacks out of your diet, since these are some of the most common triggers and can make SD worse.
Here is a link to the video I mentioned earlier: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03YJXQNncYg
She is really smart and knows a lot about SD. It might help you to identify the cause of the SD. Serborrheic Dermatidis is difficult to treat because it can be triggered by so many things: shampoos, stress, irregular hormone levels, poor diet (vitamin deficiency) and so on. Don’t give up though.
A good course of action would be to test different things to see if it is causing your SD. Then you can slowly rule out each one to identify what is causing it. This will help you to be able to find out a way to treat it.
1. Have your hormone levels checked so that you can figure out if that is what is causing your SD or if it is something else. If your hormone levels are normal then you can rule this out.
2. If you are experiencing hair loss have blood work done to figure out if your iron levels are normal because iron deficiency can cause hair loss and in some causes SD too.
3. Try going gluten free. Try to stop eating foods with wheat to see how your body reacts. It will not happen over night…you must give it at least 3 months to see a difference if it is helping or not. But typically people who have SD stop eating wheat because they have such an overgrowth of yeast in their body that eating foods with gluten will make it worse so going gluten free does help with the healing process.
4. Buy the Caprylic Acid and Probiotics. The Caprylic Acid prevents carbs and sugars from the food we eat from turning into yeast and it can help regulate the gut flora.
5. Take probiotics.
6. Drink plenty of water.
7. Check to see what the ingredients in your shampoo are. Many shampoos contain ingredients that can irritate the scalp. I saw one user here mentioned Jason Jojoba to treat SD.
8. Despite contrary opinion, Coconut oil is actually effective for treating SD. A lot of people think it makes it worse but that is not true. Coconut oil is antifungal and it contains high amount of Caprylic and Lauric Acid. Earlier I said Caprylic Acid supplements are great to take because they prevent carbs and sugar from being turned into yeast. So this is really good to take if you have SD.
I take Caprylic Acid and Probiotics supplements to help heal my body on the inside but for topical I apply coconut oil. That way I can treat both internally and topically.
I hope this information helps. I am no doctor, this is just what I have learned from struggles from SD for a while. I know difficult it can be and I really hope that you are able to find something to cure your SD because I know that it is different for everyone. I recommend watching that video on youtube that I mentioned earlier just because I really learned a lot and found it very helpful. Take care xo 🙂
Is it normal that the scalp feels dry after the first day? Slept with the garlic for one night, washed out with selsun shampoo, and my scalp feels very dry now.
I personallh y stopped feeling the dryness the next day. Of my first use. I washed it out with apple cider vinegar though.
I have been spraying the juice in my hair noticed a difference but what I want to know is for how long.
I’m gonna try eating it too
I have been suffering with Seborrheic Dermatitis for 4 years and it’s driving me crazy. I’ve tried many different treatments, both from doctors and home remedies. I have seen 3 dermatologists and a skin care centre that specializes in rare skin disorders, but my problem just continues to get worse. I had never seen the garlic cure until I was looking online last night. Desperate as I am to get some relief, I peeled and ate a clove of garlic today. It was torture! I don’t know how I’m supposed to do that on a daily basis. First of all, I have the worst dragon breath that won’t go away, it hurt my stomach and I burped garlic all night. The smell is absolutely overwhelming and my head still itches just as much as it does every night. I am willing to try anything to get help but I wonder if I’m doing something wrong. Your story said it helped after eating one clove and that you eat them daily. I don’t know how you can do that. If it was working for me, I would gladly suffer the consequences of eating the garlic. I haven’t made the juice to put on my head today because I’m missing a couple of ingredients and it was snowing today. If I use the juice on my scalp, do I still need to eat a clove every day? Are there any hints you can give me to make eating the garlic less painful? Thanks in advance.
Dear pls try onion juice instead and see.
I think your problem might be that you are treating the SD topically. As I said to another user this will only temporarily lessen the intensity of the symptoms but it won’t heal your SD. You need to treat it from the inside. I recommend you watch:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tZqTGnXurjo
She explains what Seborrheic Dermatidis is. It is important to know what it is, so that you can find out the best way to treat it.
In her next video she explains how she healed herself of SD. This works for some people.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03YJXQNncYg
Seborrheic is a pain, but don’t give up. I really hope that you watch the videos as they helped me a lot and I am trying to let more people know about them so that they figure out what SD really is and also what is a good way to treat it. Good luck! 🙂
Oh one more thing. If you discover that taking garlic is helping you with your SD you can always take it in supplement form. It’s a lot easier to swallow a little garlic pill every day then a clove of garlic.
https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=as_li_ss_tl?url=search-alias=aps&field-keywords=garlic+supplements&rh=i:aps,k:garlic+supplements&linkCode=ll2&tag=levhairloss-20&linkId=caf7a1c5e15b18391b4a68b333fd58b1
swallow it with milk
You can crush a clove of garlic and mix with Tahini (sesame seed paste). Don’t chew, just place a spoonful on your tongue and wash it down with a glass of water.
Do you still eat the garlic daily even though you are using the garlic juice mixture on your scalp every day?
Wow! GUTTED! I read with enthusiasm until . . GARLIC! – Head! (Sorry! Couldn’t resist! ) but seriously the smell must be horrendous. Then just to make matters worse Dr Bronners shampoo! I can’t tolerate coconut! Will try Garlic capsules. Cant hurt as they are great for your health anyway. I’m going to try tea tree. Fingers crossed. The Seb derm effects my eyes and is just awful.
I have tried pretty much everything including garlic juice, castor oil, witch hazel, vicks vapor rub, everything. I’m not sure if would reccomend the method I’m going to describe on your face. i have had Seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp for probably 3 years. scalp massage works wonders for me, as soon as i get out of the shower. gentle pressure, circular motions on effected areas for a few minutes. not only does it loosen the existing flakes & scales, the hair is growing back thicker than before & i credit that to the scalps oils being distributed over the skin & hair roots & bringing blood circulation to the scalp. I also have started reverse shampooing, I condition JUST the mid length to the ends, avoid the scalp & after I’ve finished my other showering activities I take THE SMALLEST BABY DAB of natural shampoo & just barely hit the roots & scalp, rinse well. i get out & do the massage. I can now even skip a day of washing my hair & remain flake free. the symptoms do return if you stop doing the massages but I actually enjoy it & the rest of my hair is gorgeous & silky & growing like a weed.
This is something that seems to be working for me also..”handling” my hair moving the sebum from roots to ends. I’ve been clarifying with neutrogena and Alpecin to get SD under control which seems to be working well but it is very drying to my hair so what I’m actually considering doing is pretty much what you describe – condition hair (not touching the roots, my scalp really hates that) and then using a small amount of shampoo to wash the scalp and rinsing it all off. Hopefully I can move on to gentler shampoos soon too once my SD eases up.
What brand of natural shampoo do you use may I ask?
MY problem with the suggestions of products is Seborrheic Dermatitis is a fungal problem the feeds on the extra oil our scalp produce so all the products you suggest have oils so you practically. Feeding your dermatitis
I went to a dermatologist and he said that it’s a Seborrheic dermatitis and the only way to remove it was thru surgery but there may also be some complications. He didn’t prescribed me any medicines or something. Only got his consultation fee. So I did my own research and tried an ointment and it works..now it’s gone. Thank God.
What ointment did you use? Please share.
Hey UncleJesse I was curious as to how you have been doing with the laser comb treatment. I have the same exact symptoms as the ones you’ve previously described and nothing under the sun has seemed to help. Has the hair loss completely stopped? Have you noticed any new growth of hair?
Hi Cinh, not only has the hairloss completely stopped BUT I noticed new hair growth!! And my scalp feels SO CLOSE TO NORMAL now and much less inflamed. I’m going to write a supplemental article today on vitamins u can take to help u as well. Please feel free to ask as questions.
Did your treatment cause your hair to grow back? Please email me
I have been diagnosed with eczema & seborrhea since I was a little girl. I know everybody’s symptoms are different, but ours are fairly similar. I don’t use laser comb as you do, just apple cider vinegar. It works for me, but everybody’s body chemistry is different. The smell I don’t deal with as much, I use apple cider vinegar immediately, when I feel my scalp scaling a bit. I let sit in my hair for a bit, next I apply a hot oil treatment (it’s natural, but store bought). Finally, I blow dry my hair. The apple cider cleanses the scalp & the hot oil moisturizes, also it rids the slight vinegar smell. & makes your hair shines. I dunno how you’d feel smelling like roses, apples & lavender, but it’s a good suggestion for a female. Also using Pantene Pro V shampoo & conditioner twice a week (only- I know but we can’t wash too frequently) before & after spraying diluted apple cider over your scalp helps. I hope this helps somebody. Also I’m African American with kinky curly hair, this helps all hair types, promise.
I have thick coarse hair and the acv doesn’t work for me
Me either, ACV, RX shampoo, dried my supper thick, coiled/frizzy/curlybut flat/thin follicles OUT. Sulfur stinks, Cortizone cream, etc….
I take almost every combo supplement, drink my green or what ever tea WITH NO sugar(just prefrence, don’t like sugary or extreme salty food). For health reasons no WHEAT/chicken,(never eaten pork) no plant oils except Red palm/Olive…… STILL MY SCALP CAN FLAKE, CRUST, etc…
(BUT have not had the FLU since 1997, no FLU shots, nary a cold, just occasional allergies now)
My immune regimen rocks!
BUT,
*DX @6, after moving to a city full of smoke stacks chemicals…
My long supper thick black Hair came out in patches..
Doc told my mom to wash my hair everyday for a week: SELSUM BLUE( it was the 80’s)….
Since then Controlled but never gone.
Got worse after having 1st child: ceased all chemical hair products yr 2000
*B4 it was trendy.
Making my own & using natural ready made hair care(Now store available, happy face)
Has helped
But I still put ANTIFUNGAL CREAM on my Scalp one a month
Type for feet/yeast
It helps give the illusion of NORMAL scalp/sebum relationship.
Even helped with hair that was balding/cow licking, on my hairline, on one Side! Filling back in so far.
BUT I WILL BUY THE GARLIC & TRY
IT FOR TWO WEEKS(not kisssing anybody but my little one)
Hopefully then I can use the pretty smelling, sensuous shampoo, conditioner.lol
& I could SAVE MONEY if GARLIC works!
IN USE/ NOW:
SHAE MOISTURE BLACK SOAP: shampoo, hair mask, conditioner; Yes to CARROTS Dandruff Conditioner only.
Extra VIRGIN COCONUT OIL for pre-wash(TX water is hard & my hair is dry). oil is immune boosting.
Alternate with olive oil; antifungal cream once a month.
But I REALLY WANT A CURE: NOT A RECIPE… WELL I PUSH ON FOR THE QUEST.. IT’S EPIC, SINCE I WAS SIX YRS OLD
What kind of antifungal cream? The i=ones used for feet and the ones for yeast infections are pretty different
Hi PrettySweet. I’m so glad you’ve shared your story. I have afro hair also and I’ve been intrigued as to whether these remedies will work on my type of hair. I’ve yet to try but hearing from someone else with similar hair, gives me hope. Thanks for the post and I hope your treatments going well
Do you rinse out the Apple cider vinegar, before you do the oil treatment? And do you rinse out oil treatment? Any oil treatment suggestions would be immensely appreciated*. Thanks
ACV(mothers milk) might need cutting w/water: 3/4 ACV to 1/4 Water(filtered or bottled). Put in dispenser like pointed applicator. But if your hair is strong& also oily then straight might work better: but for hot oil: EVOO(olive), EVCO(coconu), Rice Bran Oil and Wheat Bran Oil gives supper. moisture: essential peppermint oil(drops), pure Jasmine oil(drops), theses help scalp & give manageable.
But me not a fan of ACV for scalp dermatitis/ezcema.dried my hair.
But these oils plumped hair after ACV treatment.
Hello
I have been experiencing this problem and terrible hair loss and my hairs are thining day by day. I am using konaz lotion with photonic max shampoo sodium free. With bio zinc tab and hair vit. Now i ll try to use laser comb as the remedy for this disease. Thanks for your help.
Unfortunately, the lasecomb did not work for me. I have seborrheic dermatitis and pretty severe hair loss from the Seborrheic dermatitis…I used it 8 months straight and did not notice any difference..:(…hope this helps
hello uncle jesse
i have a same problem like you and my hair is 80% fall in sebhi dermat hair comes back or not if it comes then normally how much time it will take please reply
Hi, i know this is an old article, but i wanted to ask if this worked immediately for you with the shedding? I know you said it stopped it, but i am curious how long (how many applications) before you saw it slow/stop. I only ask because i am in the same situation as you, and i am feeling desperate about my shedding. i tried this for the 1st time last night with high hopes, but my count afterward was maybe only 10 hairs less then what it has normally been lately. I want to keep going, and i will probably try it in 2 more days again, but I guess i was hoping for a reply from you so i could maybe hold on to some hope that it will start to work.
thank you
Hi, im french so im gonna try to make a short sentence. Im not good enough in english ! I just dont understand one thing in your explication, did you eat the garlic or put it on your scalp ?
I’ll try the apple cider vinegar, but when did you use it ? All the night ? During few minutes ?
Except this, thank you for your job !
Hi
I have been reading these posts and following the young lady for a year. Everyones right especially the Drs. are really no help. I am about to try toe garlic along with, Honey. Pure, raw unfiltered honey. Nine spoonfuls to 1 spoon of warm water, which in my case is always cold when I put it on my head. Put on the patches and rub in for three minutes or so. Leave on for three hours and rinse out witih warm water no soap. Then shampoo if you want. Use that water first or your hair will come out with it. I developed high blood pressure with this but the honey has brought it down to perfect or below. Hope this helps
Hi,
I meant to say gonna try the garlic. Also I had no high blood pressure till this all started. But since using the honey on my head my BP goes to awesome. Use the Honey every other day for a week and then once monthly. Also plan to use Dead Sea Salt
do you have to have a black and decker blender, and does this work with the scales sticking to your scalp does it loosen the scales up off your scalp, look forwarded to hearing from you
You can use any juicer, I removed the Black & Decker part from the article.
Hey!
Sea Salt rinses did the magic for me!
Here what I did, the swelling/redness around my nose cheeks dissapeared in 4 DAYS!!
1. Fill the bathroom sink with warm water
2. Put 3-4 tablespoons of Sea Salt in it(ok this is a bit much but i was desperate, you can use less)
3. Dip your face in, wash your face with it until the water has cooled down
4. Pat dry, don’t rinse the salt off.
It will sting a little on areas where the skin is sore. Also the infected spots will turn bright red just after the rinse. But then after an hour you will see the difference, or after one night, i promise.
I also use head and shoulders to wash my face (careful it dries out the delicate skin a lot. I don’t use moisturizer anymore, of any kind. I have no clue what “feeds” the dermatitis and i will not take any chances.
My chronic inflammed nose is back at it’s normal size. I’m staring at it in disbelief, it looks tiny and white now, not like a battlefield anymore. The areas are starting to shed – i read the infected skin must come off.
It started 2 years ago when I had an angry moment of squeezing out my blackheads on my nose . I think I damaged/infected the skin deep in the pores when I did that, since than it had stayed red and inflammed.
Anyway, give it a try, it’s cheap and easy and it might work for you as well.
What about for the scalp?
Yeah, but if you put the garlic in your hair, how do you get the smell out? I don’t get how you thought ACV was insanely heavy, but not garlic? Typically the ACV scent doesn’t really linger for days like garlic, and its odor unit can be reduced to negligible with conditioner or something…
you mean a garlic bulb which contains 7-9 cloves, which are the individual sections
Hi I just read your article and am in the same position I am in my 3rd dermatologist. And am using the shampoo and clobestsol solution. My hair has stopped falling out so much but I frequently see the irritation flair back up on my scalp. What is this comb you speak of? And do u use the garlic rinse and it cures it forever or just for the flair up? I don’t want to be on medicine my whole life and I want this to go away and my hair to grow back. So what is this comb? Your story literally has been the past year of my life including the heat which happend about 5 months ago when all mt hair really fell out.
Ashley, Did you try the garlic? Yours sounds just like mine! I have been dealing with this scaling on my scalp for 3 years now and nothing is helping. 🙁 Hair is getting very thin in those areas!
Hello
I tried the recipe you wrote. I poured the juice on my scalp. After a few minutes it was burning and some areas became more red and inflammed. (It also happened with acv for me, isnt it bad?) I am afriad it just making things worse.
In the morning i didnt notice any improvments. Strong smell..
I used some kind of Nizoral. I hope the garlic juice dont make the things worse..
To keep doing the treatment ?
I have dundruff and something like pimples on the scalp and areas of redness.. Also on my nose sides.
And of course hair loss..
I have also coconut oil i can put on my scalp. Can it help?
I have had seborric dermatitis for years, and I was recommended to start using an alcohol free argan oil on my scalp. It HAS TO BE ALCOHOL FREE ARGAN OIL, because the alcohol will make your condition worse. Tried a bunch of brands, and the best and most natural one is the Somaluxe Argan Oil. I use it three times a week, and I barely get an itchy scalp anymore. Its 100% the way to go for seborric dermatitis.
How long did u leave the Argan oil on for?
I’ve also had seborrheic dermatitis on my scalp (not diagnosed) all my life. I never talked with a doctor about it, but have tried TONS of different shampoos, none of which helped for more than a day or so. But, since my long hair is VERY thick and curly–and dry–I can’t wash it more often than once or twice a week, even with a leave-in deep conditioner, so something has to last a lot longer to be of any use to me.
When the “No Poo” and “Low Poo” info started to come out, it talked about how harsh and drying shampoos were, and that they mess with the pH of the scalp, which is actually very delicate. I tried Low Poo, and it WAS a bit better, but not enough. I wanted to try an oil–something that would NOT have to stay on my hair overnight, would not SMELL like anything, and that wouldn’t take several tries to wash out. And, I found it!
I mixed 4 oz of fractionated coconut oil from Amazon.com (it stays liquid, vs. the usual kind that is solid when it gets cool) with a few drops of pure lavender oil and 1/2 teaspoon of tea tree oil, in a dropper bottle. While my hair is DRY, I drip three or four droppers of this mixture on my whole scalp, and massage it in. THEN, I wet my hair and use a heavy-duty conditioner, untangle the curls, and squeeze out the excess. Oil dissolves oil. The lavender/tea tree/coconut oil takes the oils off my scalp, and then the conditioner gets it out of my hair. My scalp has NEVER felt this normal my whole life–and I’m 55!
This sounds great. I have just ordered all the items and hoping it may help against the itchiness and hair loss.
How long do you leave it on your hair before you wash out the conditioner? Thanks for posting.
what shampoo do you use and how does shampooing fit into your treatment with the coconut oil?
I’ve been using Nizoral for about 15 + yrs now. It has provided relieve not a cure. To find a cure we have to know what the root cause. I’ve suffered from seborrhea dermatitis since a very young child, diagnosed in my teens and have seen approximately 6 or 7 Dermatologist since. I’m now 37. During my pregnancy at 27 I asked my Dr. Is it ok to use the Nizoral during, he advised me to use only when absolutely necessary. Funny thing is without noticing I didn’t have to use it at all. My flare ups typically were so bad I usually had to to use it 1 to 2x a week. I reframed from using the RX steroid, it causes hair thining. Having a clear scalp during my pregnancy led me to believe it was hormonal and or diet related. Why not, every thing else is. Servere dandruff is embarrassing and annoying to say the least.
Throughout the years I have used just about every treatment natural and RX related and consistently. Nothing has worked on a long term basis. I’ve been blessed with a thick head of hair and have lost some where I develop patches on my scalp in consistent problem areas and thinning around my hair line. Thank GOD nothing too noticeable. And always have hade great results and incredibly soft hair after blow drying and straightening. But the health of my scalp have always concerned my mom as a child and myself as an adult.
Acv, baking soda, salts are great natural treatments but can be very drying to your hair. Acv is great for regulating your ph balance but can also be digested with honey on a daily to do that. Acv is recommended for your hair as a build up cleanser, but not for your scalp. Bkng soda can be used weekly to cleanse not daily.
What I’m trying now; I’ve been doing a lot of research on diet for my most optimal level of health. I am now focusing on proper food combing, gluten free, taking a probiotic daily, consuming 100% organic pure: 2 oz cranberry juice, pomegranate juice, and aloe Vera juice. Not at once, I follow food combing rules for optimal digestion and no white, processed flours, white rice, limited white potatoes. I have used coconut water and aloe juice on my hair as a final rinse which both are very moisturizing. I will start wining my scalp off shampoo this week and adding tea tree oil to my after wash treatment of coconut oil. Aloe Vera is a miracle plant so I will start applying homemade aloe gel to my scalp due to its anti inflammatory properties. Recipe from paleomama.
Everyone is different therefore everyone’s treatment might vary and more than one treatment for each person. Either way one thing for sure. Without knowing the root cause it would be challenging to actually find a cure. Most natural foods, herbs, and spices have medicinal benefits ie: honey-anti bacterial, aloe Vera, turmeric, cinnamon-anti inflammatory etc. it’s a matter of finding what works. I will also try Curlycurls remedy. Thank you all for In put it was very helpful. And good luck on finding a cure.
I noticed the same relief during pregnancy. Makes me wish I could go back.
The real reason you are dealing with dermatitis is because you are sensitive to circulating androgens. During your pregnancy your estrogen was quite high and it blocked the androgens. See an endo and get on spironolactone and you will see a big difference. The topical stuff makes it bearable but the underlying issue is the androgen sensitivity and if you address that the seb derm will become dormant like during your pregnancy.
I have seborric dermatitis and I tried the garlic on my scalp. I didn’t sleep with it, just left it for 2 hrs and it worked. It’s been 2 months and no dandruff….. Only problem is the garlic smell still comes out and it’s driving, crazy. I’ve try many shampoos, listening, lemon, ACV and coconut oil and smell still there. Does anyone know what can I do? I’m happy the dandruff is gone and the smell is a high price to pay
Did you find an answer for the garlic smell? I am willing to try and hope you can tell me how long this worked for you or if your still happy with the garlic results….and the smell

Sebamed shampoo
Hi! I read an article that said a great home remedy was apple cider vinegar. My mom always told me that she cured her excema but didn’t know how she did it… She recently has had a breakout after about 6 years. Long story short she realized the time she started taking apple cider vinegar pills for acid reflux was the time she rid her execma. I have begun taking 1 400mg apple cider vinegar pill daily and my execma symptoms I’ve been battling for 10 years are completely gone. I just bought Regular shampoo for the first time in 10 years… I’ve always used organic tea tree shampoo. Give it a go… Worked for me and I couldn’t be happier!
Try sebamed shampoo for psoriasis or dermatitis. Costco has a roadshow that comes to some stores twice a year and they give out samples, great lightweight face cream also.
HI everybody and especially uncle jesse!!!
I have gone through the article published by you and feels, these remedies are all hit and trials based on individuals researchs and beliefs. Just to share my story, I have been suffering form severe dandruff flakes and itching on my scalp ( only in the head) with boils sometimes. This is termed as dermatites by my tricologist ( I am 30 years old and refering a homeopathic for past 7 years now). Finally i have decised to quit the medicines and feel this can’t be cured. Since I am I dnt feel my tricologist is unable to put a tab on my hairfall and dandruff.
Going through the article I still feel considering the options such as garlic and ACV may hellp or may be not, or vice versa may worsen the situation.
Dear Uncle Jesse, are you dead sure using garlic and acv will help dillute the situation?? For how long have you tried this dosage, because i dont think appliying once or twice will help it; need to be “practised” for may be months, I suppose!!!
Your valuable advise feedback will be helpful..
I just want to say, that my doctor in January had got me trying this what she herd rumored a miracle cure for Seborrheic Dermatitis. When i herd about it i wasnt caring at all, i had to try it. After i was diagnosed with the skin condition, i felt embarrassed and my self esteem went down and confidence. So everything that wasn going to help i tried. So i gave the cream a try and next day afternoon, bang my skin was clear, i was happy but since January, i am still using the cream, however, sometimes i feel like i dont need it. But not once has my skin flared up or anything.
The cream is called ” Aquaarate” 10% w/w Cream ( urea cream). Give it a go, and tell me if it works for you, cause its simple easy and very effective!! Its the only thing thats worked for me, and its very fast effective! thanks i hope it works for you as its made me sooo much happier!
I have been suffering for the last 8 years, nothing seems to work. I tried acv, Which did reduce the itch, but after 3 days it was always back. I still haven’t given up hope and i will post here as soon as i find something
Hi Rahul, did you try anything else since then..did you continue with ACV..
Do you still have the itching..or have you found any relief..
I am looking for a solution myself desperately, do share your experience..
Paddy
.
I have been suffering from this disease for last 6 years. One thing is clear to me that medicated shampoos, antifungal creams or tablets just stop itemporarily nothing else . Its timw for natural solution . I will try it .. Thank you dear for your kind information.
Have had problems w/ my scalp all my life. Military Dr’s gave no help, but Dr’s in Palm Springs said to use shampoo w/ coal tar Denerex. It worked until Denerex took the coal tar out of their shampoo.. So “Coal Tar” is not a cure it did controlled it. Will try the ACV to start and the sea salt. Would rather take the garlic my mouth, in food, first. See if that will work! LaBrenda
thx a lot for this very important article, it’s like you were talking about my own experience, i just started using garlic few days a go and it’s such a sens of relief, my scalp is still red and when i use the garlic juice i feel like it burns my skin but it only lasts for a few sec, the itching and heat desapears right after!!! i’ll follow your advice and delute the garlic juice in warm water to avoide the burning sensation , and again so glad i read your wonderful article, it’s so motivating after i became so desperate and depressed… thx a lot and i’ll let you know if the dermatitis is healed hopefully 🙂
That was august…how did it work for you? Should I give it a try?
Hi…my sister has very severe seborrheic dermatits and her infected areas are scalp, areas around her nose and face. She has tried garlic treatment once on her scalp once so far and could feel a little bit of relief. She will continue to do so for her scalp. My questions is, can this garlic juice diluted in water could also be used on face? if yes, for how long this needs to be applied? and if no, is there any other cure/ Please advise as she is has been suffering from this for over a decade now and has tried several treatments but really of not much benefit. Thank you…Abz
I was diagnosed with seborrheic dermatitis about 3 years ago and have tried stuff the dermatologist gave me. Nothing worked. Over the winter here in New Zealand my itchyness/crawling sensation on my head disappeared I loved it and hoped it had gone…yea right. It is back again. I had a really bad flare up 2 days ago. I do have a cure even if it doesn’t totally fix it but gives me great relief. It’s coconut oil. ( ingredients 100% coconut oil) i i have been using it since the beginning of the year except over winter. I keep it in the fridge and use a small amount like the size of a pea, spread it on my hand then run it thru my hair. I have short hair so it’s easier. As I say it’s not a total fix but it certainly gets rid of the horrible crawling feeling. I use it once a day but sometimes twice.
I really hate the crawling feeling 🙁
So you are saying that all these conditions are fungal and bacteria? Will any anti fungal remedies work?
I have suffered with Seborrheic dermatitis for over two years, I have seen doctors and a Dermatologist and i came across this hair oil called Somaluxe Argan Oil and my red patches have nearly gone (I have bee using it for around a week every night) and the scales have disappeared. I had it quiet bad round my mouth, ears and eyes and it has nearly gone…… I’m so happy with the result!
It would be better if Somaluxe would not put the argan oil in a GLASS bottle, because its oil I’m scared it may slip out my hands so I have decantered it into a plastic spritz bottle.
THANK YOU for sharing your experience and success story. I will def. try this out – because I am like you, kinda hopeless now. Tried everything, nothing works.
I have scalp dermatitis. For past 9 years I have been struggling with this problem. I would say I have lost 50% of hair during this time. Some of hair has grown but others which have fallen seems like it has not. I have recently tried this garlic solution…it just helps me for a day or two and the dermatitis comes back again. What period of time would I have to put it on, is it daily and for how many days? Also the hair which has fallen in the past is there is a possibility that it might grow back?
jeez, people, stop putting food in your hair!
my best results are when i just get a short haircut and not getting my hair wet often.
Can I sub out the garlic juice with taking garlic pills everyday? Will it have the same effect as the juiced garlic?
You need to use a shampoo that does not have chemicals and has only SOOTHING ingredients. I tried alot of them – finding one without chemicals is hard. Aloe Vera is soothing…coconut oil is soothing…these are the ingredients you should be looking for in a shampoo. For the last month, I have been using the Somaluxe Shampoo (purchased online at Lady Soma), and it has been great cause its super moisturizing…and doesn’t have any chemicals that aggravate my eczema.
I’ve been to enough dermatologists more than 5 during the years!
I have tried enough medcs, I have tried enough diets, so maybe it’s time I stopped caring?
Stop stressing about these superficial problems?
I had seborrheic dermatitis I had it all: redness, flaking, scaly patches, and dandruff. . . there are two things that worked for me: Nizoral for the dandruff. I used this every day. And then after the Nozoral, I used the Made from Earth Tea Protein Shampoo. You NEED to the Tea Tree oil to kill fungus. The Nozoral is great for dandruff, but it does not kill the fungus that is causing the dermatitis. The Made from Earth Tea Protein Shampoo has alot of ea tree oil in it, and this completely killed the fungus n 1 week. I still use both cause I lovethem. I only use the Nizoral when I have dandrufff, but on a daily basis the Made from Earth shampoo is just perfect. . . no scalp issues at all 🙂
Really??
This made from earth tea tree shampoo can kill all the fungus with no side effects ??
and what is the actual name of this shampoo and can i get it in india ?
I have dealt with this stuff off and on for 10 years. The real simple answer is that those of us who are severly effected by seb derm have very sensitive skin and when the androgens get out of control, we produce sebum and it causes intense irritation of the skin/scalp. The treatment that has helped me is anti androgen meds, birth control pills and a small estrogen patch. These help protect me and I actually went for many years without much issue. However, I am burning like crazy right now, so the antiandrogens aren’t doing their job. I may have to take a course of prednisone while this gets under control. It has been hell on earth to deal with and the vinegar killed my skin. The moral of the story for me is that I have to treat it from within like acne would need to be.
I pray that there will be medicine for this sickness… we just found out recently that my daughter has seborrheic dermatitis , she is only 13 years and it really fell me upset…
I know you daid that you’re cured now, but if you were then you wouldn’t have to continuously use this remedy you would be done with it. I just have a suggestion you should check Out Morgellonscure.com believe it or not it’s not just a conspiracy theory this is actually a real thing it took me awhile to accept information but once I did and kept doing more research I was astonished by what did Van in front of my face the entire time please feel free to respond with anything you have to say in regards to my comet from one sufferer to another
I have read that manuka oil will work because it’s antifungal. Going to try it by mixing with coconut oil and in my shampoo. Also, there is manuka honey but I thought I would try manuka oil. Has anyone tried either of these?
BEST IS
1:Sea Salt diluated with water
2:Lemon juice Diluated with Water
3:Honey
Rince With Cold Water always.
Always Cleanse your face when Oily because oil feed the yeast
I tried garlic, apple cider vinegar, sea salt, fluocinolone acetonide and every type of medicated shampoo and the only thing that helped me was hydrocortisone 1% cream. But of coarse everyone is different, don’t give up something has to work.
Dear all. I am suffering from sabhoric dermatitis from last 10 years and during the time I visited so many Dermatologists.and I had used lot of shampoos and lotions. After spending á llt of time I this treatment i came to know exactly what is the exact cause of sabhoric demerits that is excess DHT hormone secretion .since i had lots of hairs due to sabhoric dermatitis i went for Harris transplant procedures twice one fUE and one FUT procedure and i got good results out of it but the sabhoric dermatitis is still there as my surgeon told me that there is no solution for sabhoric dermatitis except fenostrade tablets but the problem is outs side effect and that is it decrease the sexual desire but fenostrade controls the level DHT.
Try espiritu de canela for hair loss it works for real and its cheap on ebay
I have seborrheic derm too. It’s around my nose, forehead area, and chest. I believe it is also on my scalp as it is very sensitive and becomes itchy easily…. plus I get dandruff and oil. I have to wash daily because it gets oily. The problem I have with the AC and dandruff shampoos is that they take dye out and I color my hair. I won’t walk around with grey hair!! I don’t know what to do?
72 years 0ld developed seborrhea dermatitis of scalp and skin. oregano oil on face seemed to work at first: but only held it back: . dermatologist prescribed cortisterols 2.5 for skin & scalp: made it worst. tried oregano oil again caused inflammation and needed to reapply more frequently . skin
became even more inflamed. what helped very quickly was CURAD silver solution small tubes can be
purchased at walmart Order at pharmacy $4.49 walgeens charges 8.99. I’ts a miracle Since I have a
very tenacious fungus. it’s not greasy only a little sticky. I use it morning and nightly even on my lips
that were peeling (on lips more often, CURAD even quickly cured a bad swollen spider bite on ankle
I covered it with bandage, I tried every dandruff shampoo. I ordered vet. formula clinical care from
from amazon (anti parasitic & antiseborrheic med. shampoo (for dogs) Leave on over night with towel (dollar tree ) has terry cloth head covers (stay on) next day comb out dandruff flakes . no more
scratching glue type and hard scaly dandruff off, will try the garlic . hope it works (NO hair fallout so far best wishes and good luck ! We all need to improve our quality of life.
Prior comment about CURAD ( it really works I’ve tried every thing I discovered on web sites
from vinegar to tea tree oil to sea salts etc: etc: for 5 months. I found out fungus actually
will multiply in a petri dish with olive oil (it’s favorite ) I keep all oils off my face and scalp the
will feed off the oils and form a shield over themselves to protect themselves then come out
to feed whenever. LOOK UP how to treat aggressive seborrhea fungus . I have an inch of
prints outs, Will continue to do research. Some of the pages are very scientific even hard to
understand !There is some research going on because fungus is not curable only controlled.
scientists even say that can,t understand it and there are many that animals have. And some
of the strong medications available have harmful side effects. It an also infect your bronchia
tubes causing coughing up, I tried elderberry syrup 1 tbsp, It felt like acid going down my throat-almost went to regent care Water and spitting up did”t alleviate but milk did thank
God. next time I tied a tiny amount and It was OK NOW TAKE 3 TBS, a day works great!
sending every one hope and love, chris
.
You can rub lemon juice over your scalp leave it for 20-30 mins n den wash it off… Worked for me from very first use… But u need to bear that first five mins of infflamation… Try once..
I m suffering for this dermatitis from nearly 1 nd half year…I would like to kno..how many days should I continue it.. I m gonaa try this stuff today…I m a teenager and it feels annoying when someone notices marks on ur head…also..is it necessary to eat clove of garlic along with applying it to scalp..bcoz it is very hard to eat…plz..tell me something..I hav tried three useless dermatologists..I m losing home..plz reply my txt…
Nizoral is a very powerful medication but like Afrin nasal spray it’s a last resort medication. I used the over counter 1% version. Worked great. But then flakes came back with a vengeance in couple months. Called the company and the rep swore she never heard of that. I then went to my buddy who’s a dermatologist. He upped it to prescription 2% and warned me to rotate with other treatments like cortisone cream because overuse will stop working after a while.
I did try a solution of Dead Sea salts and baking soda when I had very short hair. This caused the skin to burn and huge flakes appeared in couple of days. Once that skin “peeled” off the scalp was clear for months. But as hair got longer I used cheap Head & Tails conditioner. For whatever reason that brought back the flakes.
Historically exposure to sulphur from hot springs like at Yellowstone gave incredible relief for weeks. Evidently that’s why sulphur shampoos work. Something about inhibiting the overgrowth of the skin. But if I combined it with cheap conditioners it came back. I then switched to coconut oil. 1 tablespoon liquified in palm applied to hair. When warm water rinses it off it’s an excellent body moisturizer too.
I still use Nizoral once in a blue moon when it get’s way out of control. Probably the best combo is that shock the fungi and then a high sulphur shampoo once a week. Both require a conditioner since they strip the scalp and hair which if long needs detangling. Coconut oil is best substitute found so far.
Research how dead sea salt will cure seborrheic dermatitis – excellent proof of this.
Psoriasis is certainly not a fungal infection 🙁 I wish it were! It’s an autoimmune disease. My boyfriend has it along with psoriatic arthritis and it’s a lifelong disease with no cure, only treatment for remission.
I agree Sara! We should all be taking FOOD ENZYMES with every meal. Why? We are not able to break down our food. For example food with protein when not broken down and swims around in our bloodstream will cause issues such as HOT Scalp accompanied by itchy skin. Start taking enzymes with every meal. I get mine from Nature Sunshine. Facebook me, Annette Craig ( picture of me and my dog as my profile). Think about this everyone, if our cells are made up of enzymes and every part of our body are cells (we have trillions of cells in our bodies) than adding enzymes to our nutrition plan will help to rebuild cells and make them live vibrantly not die off. How to relax your cortisol levels is another big key. Keeping their levels from rising and dropping. Your hormones have alot to do with this as well, make sure that you get a hormone blood test and they are balanced. I really like the caster oil pack that I made with one egg and olive oil (add peppermint and rosemary), Rinse after an hour and than massage coconut oil in your hair. Do not feed the fungus with sugars and white carbs etc. Our hair is a signature of who we are! We should not taking losing our hair and having this issue lying down. Put up the good fight meaning keep researching and talking to each other until you find what works best for you and put an end to your suffering and enjoy brushing your hair again without worrying if it will fall out. xo
I put hemp seed oil on my scalp every night, and cover my head with a plastic
bag to protect my pillow and keep the oil on my scalp. Wash with a good ph
balance shampoo, spray apple cider vinegar on my scalp and hair. Let it stay
on for at least 5 minutes. Rinse with cool water. You won’t need a conditioner.
My seb derm is not gone, but it sure calms it down a lot. At least it doesn’t feel
like I have a tight cap on my head all day.
Argan oil is what worked for me. Specifically, I used the Somaluxe Argan Oil and let the oil soak into my scalp. I used to wash it off, but I found it heals the dermatitis better if you leave it on!
Thank you!
Im getting on to this ASAP. I got it from bleaching my hair.
5 years now and exactly as described (except the heat).
I hope it works.
Also I use coconut oil and that relieves it. But has not cured it.
Have just been cured of hep c. Several folk told me when hep was cured their seb derm vanished but alas mine hasn’t. I’ve tried various including Nizoral and Betacap which is prescribed for cradle cap with no real success. Will give your ideas a go.
Garlic works. Thank you for sharing this incredible remedy. I applied garlic juice on my scalp and left it overnight. My scalp felt real again the next day. I repeated the same after 3 days. I eat two garlic cloves evryday in the morning empty stomach. The Only problem is that it makes my skin too dry. I want a solution to that as I’m hesitant about using oil as it might start the itching and irritation. Otherwise, my hairfall reduced 60% and it doesn’t itch anymore.
hii!!
See i can advice you to apply curd (dahi) over your scalp to keep it moisturize if you dont like to use oil.
Has anyone got thyroid problems like t4 to t3 coversion.could this be the underlying cause? Just saying as a neutra path said I may have this problem.also cortisol leveles. I have had this same problem. Before taking prescription treatment read side affects c Nizerol shampoo cause hair loss. So in treating the seb derm. And fungus. The shampoo made my hair loss worse. I ha e stop everything and have been using 100 percent organic shampoo. Ava
Still have some symptoms but I will try garlic. Coconut oil.
Since vinager us a fermentation how would that fight the fungus?
I’ve been suffering from flaky scaly scalp for more than twenty years and I’ve tried garlic, sea salt, coconut oil, tea tree oil… none of them works
then read some comment on youtube video about olive oil….. BOOM…. my scalp is clear of dry scaly flakes….. omg I still cannot believe it
I suffer from this seasonally. Oddly enough, it goes in the summer, but as soon as the seasons change, back it comes. I use Ketakonazol shampoo from my doctor after using Tea tree organic shampoo. It takes about a month to clear up each time, and then I use the Ketakonazol shampoo once a week. In between the Tea tree shampoo stops any latent irritation. I’ll try the garlic treatment though, It sounds worth it!

Holy Crap! It worked for me.
I was suffering from itching on scalp for last 8 months.Itching stopped from the day 1 and its been just 3 days I am almost completely relieved.
Here is what I did:
Day 1:
1.I have taken 10 pcs of garlic. Its very easy if you boil garlic with water for 5-10 min.you can drink the water also.
2.Juiced 10 pcs of garlic in my omega juicer along with parsley(to reduce the flavour).you can use cilantro/mint also.Dilute it with water and sprayed it on the scalp.washed just with water after 2 hrs.
Next day I didnt have any itching.
Day 2 and Day 3 I have just eaten 10pcs of garlic.
No more itching now and its healing well.
Will continue to eat garlic daily and apply externally for couple of days in a week.
I am also in the process of cleaning my gut with raw vegan life style.
Have tried Grape Fast for couple of days and it helped me a lot.
Thanks a lot for sharing it.
How can you eat 10 pieces of garlic? I ate 1 clove of garlic one time and it was BRUTAL. 🙁 I can’t imagine doing it again. I was on fire from my mouth all the way to my stomach. 🙁

Hi,
we need to do two things here.I havent cured completely yet but improving a lot.
Atleast my itching stopped.
1.one is to fix the root cause which seems to be Candida fungus in the gut. Clearing Candida is the difficult thing.
I list few resources and videos which may be helpful.
2.Juice Garlic with some greens like cliantro/parsley and apply on scalp which will stop the itching.
Hope it helps.
Thanks
try onion juice on scalp alternate days for few days. its worked well for SD. try and see. Another important, pray for others who are similarly infected. It will do miracles for you. When you pray for other for anything, you will be taken care by god. Dont pray for yourself always. Rarely for yurself and always for others.
also now i have white hairs can anyone help me??
All what i have read in your post is same as my condition.I have also tried a lot of natural stuff and continuously trying more.I am gonna try this garlic also. Thanks for this but tell me should i get my head shaved in order to deal with this problem and then trying all the natural stuffs ??
*Must reply*
I have shaved my head as I had lots of yellow scabs on it and helped a lot.
If you dont have much scabs then you may not required to shave but shaving really helps in keeping the scalp clean.
hey i have not get the proper answer so plz someone give me complete good solution so i can remove my scalp enzeyma
waiting for your reply…!
??
Hi I have had seborrheic dermatitis for 5 years and Drs meds have not helped me. I use different shampoos and my hair is moisturized afterwards. Then my scalp is rough on top and and in certain spots. I deep condition every 2 weeks and shampoo and rinse it out. What should I use to dry these spots up? I am an afro American with fine hair. I do not want anything to weigh my hair down and have that greasy feeling. Thank you!
I would like to share my personal experience of taking raw potato juice to control the seborrheic dermatitis or adult cradle cap problem. Initially I started with one green apple and 2 large potato juice in the morning 1 hour before breakfast. Within 1 week , the flaky skin 50% much better. I continued for 3 months and the scalp almost back to normal. I have stopped juicing and the scalp showing sign again due to tremendous stress at work place after 6 months w/o taking the juice. I started again and can see the obvious result. The juice not only helps to control the seborrheic dermatitis outbreak and you will feel refresh and full of energy. The following is how i make my juice :
A. 2 large potato, peeled and extract juice. put aside to let the starch to settle at the bottom
B .1 green apple , 1 carrot, 1/2 lemon peeled and extract juice
Pour A into B without the starch. Drink on empty stomach in the morning 1 hour before breakfast. If the condition is severe, take another dose in the evening 5 pm. one hour before dinner.
Do share whether it helps as it will benefit others.
Garlic never worked for me. Fractionated coconut oil and sea buckthorn seed oil was a miracle for me. Raw honey and water has many good results but why bother with apple cider vinager if your going to mix it with chemicals?
I fully support using Argan oil. I had itchy scalp for years, leading to me getting chornic scabs or sores which I would pick at constantly. One got so bad that over the course of a couple of years I ended up scratching the hair away on the sore leaving a small bald patch. Of all the treatments I tried, Argan oil cured the soreness and healed the scab within 3 to 4 weeks, and the pain and itchiness gone by week 1 or 2. My routine is to mix a ratio of 1:8 Argan Oil:Shampoo right in the bottle. It’ll make the shampoo runny over time, but it doesn’t affect anything; just shake each time and use. I also spot treated my sore(s) with straight argan oil and wear a night cap before bed until everything was healed. I’m happy to say that my hair follicles are now starting to grow hair again, and I’m hoping for the spot to be mostly filled in by summer. The brand of Argan Oil i used was One ‘n Only. It works, but I’m not crazy about the scent that was added and would prefer my oil to be unadulterated if I were to buy it again. The small bottle lasts a really long time though, so it’s worth the expense.
pls tell me that this has worked…i have it…is this contagious btw…i used ever single shampoo on the market…micogel cream..terbisil cream..ketoconozole creams nothing worked..tea tree makes the scales come off in bigger portions….helpppp
I had been struggling with SD for the last 2 years. It was generally not too severe but I did have severe flare ups every once in a while with terrible itching, scabs and bleeding (which was a result of scratching my head too much). What has worked for me is putting a mixture of honey and boiling water (80% honey-20% water) in my scalp 30 minutes before washing my hair and then using lemon water (2 tbsp lemon juice in a bucket of water) to wash my hair. Also, I ditched my doctor prescribed anti dandruff shampoo (it was damaging my hair too much) and switched to a regular shampoo and conditioner. Basically honey and lemon worked for me, not the medicated shampoo and conditioner
Guys nice tries and hope many remedies are working. I also tried onion juice. It did work well just in 1 day it brought down the red patchy rash dull. continuously i applied onion juice and 3-4 days the redness on my mid chest with 3 red patchy rash has disappeared. it became pink then turned light pink and faded off. pls try simple onion juice also.
If you use garlic combine it with baking soda, in a glass of water you need a flat teaspoon of soda and if you use powder garlic just half flat teaspoon, shake it well and apply freely. For some reason backing soda is reducing the hotness of garlic to the point that the same combination of a flat teaspoon of backing soda and half flat teaspoon in two glasses of water can be used for sinusitis.
If you use oils like tea tree or even ginger these need to be severely diluted. The problem is that your immune system is corrupted in some way and you never know what is going to help or make it worse (my mother´s ear got the size of an elephant after just a drop of tea tree oil and it did not pass for a few days)
Yogurt, plain and simple, apple vinegar diluted, argan oil, you definitely need ketoconazole or similar but do not count on it doing anything more than killing fungus, it does NOT reduce inflammation. Ketoconazole is not normally applied for more than 4 weeks.
After that garlic should be enough. Almond cream (those for baby´s butts) or Coconut oil/cream seems the best choice, they will not make things worse but they are not going to help on their own either.
Take yogurt with different bacteria and try to guess which work best, apply it to the skin freely, the same with argan oil, apple vinegar must be diluted.
Keep the therapy for 3-4 weeks before deciding what to do next.
Unfortunately it is a chronic disease so it can return at any time, so keep doing the above constantly but not necessarily every day as when it is all inflamed.
In case it goes very bad do take some tablets for quick reducing inflammation or allergies, whatever works for you, but do it only to get some time, do not use any of those permanently, as it is not a solution.
Change eating habits and take more vitamin D, if you have no problem with garlic take tablets daily. Reduce all kind of fatty food, fish would be a good replacement if you do not mind it. And drink yogurt with good bacterias that work for you.
And eat a lot of fruits.
Do not forget that your immune system is in bad shape so do expect all sorts of small problems anyway.
I have been using foderma serum for a month now. I have definitely seen an improvement. I have Eczema on my scalp only and it does not dry out or make my hair greasy. I have been using twice a day. I am hoping that it continues to work more!!
im a dr who now practices natural medicine. I had a number of very stressful situations occurring in my life. SD appeared on the scalp at this time. I have studied the great minds of the past in medicine at some depth..HIpporcares said “all disease begins in the gut”. After failures with topical applications, I have found that the following has resolved the scalp issues…completely. In less than a week. 1 Tablespoon Raw White Garlic (not pink or garlic) .this is approx 4 pearls..Let sit in the air for 10mins. Swallow without chewing. Drink plenty of water.Eat a big healthy breakfast afterward..There is no smell or discomfort. Also, drink only distilled water. And slowly but surely push the body clock back so one is asleep by 10pm most nights at latest. And no special topical applications. Sulphate free shampoos
Hi, im 17 and ive been very stressed for about a year now( personal reasons and issues). I made a thing in my hair to make it straight and then the S. Dermatitis apeared…im still very stressed and i think it has a lot to deal with it, also its winter in my country so will it get better on summer? And whats the best treatmeants?my hair is falling can i take biotin?
Well…I guess I will join the club…
I’am not doctor and I haven’t visited one, bcs I figured on my own that problem is internal, not external. The only thing that gives me relief within few minutes is COD Liver Oil and washing my hair with ACV.
I’m doing that for past two years and I am keeping it under control, but didn’t cure it yet. 3 days is max of not washing hair, after that it just becomes crazy itchy/inflamed.
That what is happening is inflammation and no external chemical will ever cure it. It is auto-immune disorder where our cells are not working properly, called it that way.
Only one COD Liver oil gives me relief right away and I tried bunch. I don’t know what they put inside and how they do it, but it works for me. I live in Canada and this is the one that works for me…I tried other ones from same manufacturer and it didn’t work.

I can try any other oil and nothing gives me relief and keep it under control as this one. I have no dandruff unless I stop taking those pills.
I am going to try last resort to cure it this saturday(only one store sell it here) I got recommendation for Black Seed Oil(Nigella Sattiva), apparently it cures some auto-immune disorders and I hope that together with COD liver oil, Hemp Oil(I just bought it today to try) and ACV I will “shake” those cells to return to work “normal hours” again.
If anyone already tried pls let me know
Try baking soda. I’ve had this condition my whole adult life, and so did my father. I’m over 60 now. My new wife said, oh, yeah, i used to get that too, just massage a teaspoon or two of baking soda into your scalp with your shampoo. I did this about three days running and the sores all dried up and went away. Do it every week or so to maintain, or if you get another sore. Haven’t had a problem with it for over a year.
My SD began at puberty and I fought it every day of my life (I’m 54) with every remedy known to medicine, naturopathy, homeopathy and all combined until 3 weeks ago. That was when I stopped using shampoo cold turkey and turned to baking soda and water with a diluted apple cider vinegar rinse. Every scab, sore, rash and flake vanished without a trace within 2 days. This condition plagued me, never got a break from it. It’s now completely gone. My shampoo now is either the baking soda/ACV combo or organic rye flour mixed with water and used as shampoo. Nothing short of miraculous. Ditch the shampoo everyone. It’s toxic
